Questions

It is rare to have so much under one roof. In fact Carl Zeiss Meditec frequently remind us that we are probably the best equipped Zeiss Opticians in the world. We even have more equipment than our local Hospital Eye Department so we can give you excellent eyecare on the High Street!
Why should I have my spectacles fitted by a Registered Dispensing Optician?

Surely all High Street Opticians have a registered Dispensing Optician to do this?
Not necessarily, within Fife approximately only 1/3 of Practices currently employ a Registered Dispensing Optician, there are many Practices who rely on unqualified, unregistered staff to fit and supply spectacles for the majority of their patients.
Who can fit my child's spectacles then?
Spectacle dispensing for under 16s must be carried out by, or directly supervised by a Registered Dispensing Optician or Registered Optometrist.
I am over 45 and am finding it a little harder to see close up. Can you help me?
When our Optometrist tests your eyes you will be checked over thoroughly for all ranges of vision.
If we can make it easier for you at different viewing distances then we may advise a varifocal with a small addition to let you see at all distances clearly.

My new prescription reading glasses are great for reading but I can't use them at my computer. Why?
Your reading spectacles will let you see at a certain distance, beyond that it will be blurred.
Our daily activities are not at a fixed position so why live with reading spectacles that only work at 300mm to 400mm (12" to 18") when you can have something so much better than that.
As a Registered Dispensing Optician Cliff can advise you on the best lens for you and your daily activities.
Why do my eyes get tired using ready readers for more than 10 minutes?
Ready readers have so many compromises that are not ideal for every person.
For example the lenses are positioned for an average distance between the pupils, they are the same power for each eye - but most people need different strengths for each eye and we are all different sizes and shapes!
The lenses are a basic quality, the style and fitting are probably not ideal for your needs so these are some of the most obvious reasons as to why they are not good for long term reading.
Why do lenses vary so much in cost?
